First graders in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area get a book present from the Helmet Library This year’s Finnish-language book gift is called Zakir ja kevät, written by Malin Klingenberg and illustrated by Margareta Sandin. The campaign starts in the Helmet libraries on Monday, 11 September 2023.
Kalasatama Library to open on 15 January 2024 The upcoming 38th library in Helsinki, to open in early 2024, will be a unique local library in the middle of the residents’ daily lives and along their routes. The playful premises of the new library invite visitors to read and spend time together. The library was planned together with the area’s residents.

You can register in advance at any Helmet library starting from 1 September 2023.
Helmet online service to be updated in 2023 The Helmet.fi online service of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area libraries will be updated in 2023. The new online library will utilise Finna, which is a free-of-charge online service platform maintained by the National Library of Finland.

The renovated children’s section at Oodi invites visitors to read books The popular children’s section located on the third floor of the Central Library Oodi has been renovated during the spring. The opening of the children’s section will take place on 11 June.
Kivistö library moves to Mosaiikki urban culture center Kivistö Library moves to new facilities in Mosaiikki urban culture center, as part of Kivis shopping mall (Vantaankoskentie 69). Due to the move, we must restrict access to the library earlier.
